Don’t Get Caught in the Winter RUT!

Finally, it’s here! The time of the year when there is literally nothing to do but brave the cold air, wind, and snow and only hope that the spring will get here before the winter swallows us up. It’s the time of the year when the sun is taking a temporary leave of absence and the schoolwork seems to be more challenging and endless. We all know what it is, it’s the winter RUT! The first few months of the year always seem to be the most spiritually stagnant for me. It is so easy to just go with the flow and become stuck in a rut. A rut where each day feels like a repeat of the day before with nothing new and nothing fresh.

It causes me to wonder… When did the time between Christmas and Easter become so mundane? Because in actuality we as Christians have a lot to look forward to and be grateful for. Christ saved us! What better news is that!? Just think, there is a GOD with such an amazing love for us that He has provided an escape route from the bondage of our sin. We are made new! So when we are caught in the day to day routine, realize that we are new beings!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” - 2 Corinthians 5:17

These are amazing words! So, when we are in the winter rut and we just seem to be spiritually motionless, lift your eyes to heaven because we are made NEW. Don’t get stuck in the rut, but instead realize that being found in Christ gives us a new perspective. A perspective where we can always find spiritual revival independent of circumstance. In the dull times, God is still working in our lives. Don’t let the rut keep you down.
