God First

These days it is so easy to lose focus of what is true. There are so many things being thrown at us from all different directions, distracting us from what should be our main focus: God. God should be our main focus, but we also need to focus on sharing Him with others. It is so easy to just go with the flow. At least that has been my experience at Marshall University. College is such a secular environment that it has a major influence on people.

There are many different agendas trying to be established in the college environment. Many of which are in direct conflict with the Word of God. This is where Christians need to be well grounded in what God has established in His Word. College can be a strange environment at times, but it can also be a wonderful template for sharing the great news of Christ with others.

No matter what major a person decides to choose, no matter what grades a person makes, no matter a person’s social standing, no matter a person’s financial status, no matter a person’s character, no matter a person’s follies, no matter a person’s past, present, or future; the only thing that is going to make a difference in their lives is if one has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This is our life–line, literally, this is vital to all humans.

For each person, one day it is going to come down to whether or not they have trusted Jesus. It scares me to think that I have had opportunities to talk to people about Jesus but didn’t because of the fear of looking awkward. Each time that happens I am taking chance on that being the last opportunity for that person to hear about Jesus.

So I hope we can encourage each other to not be afraid to put God first. To not be afraid to stand out and look awkward when we share Christ with someone. God never said that life would be comfortable or easy. Lets step out of our comfort zone together because it’s a life or death situation. Put God first!
