What's Your Legacy?

This week – actually pretty much this whole month, my family is celebrating my Grandpa’s 90th birthday. 90 years on this earth...WOW definitely something to celebrate! A few other things about my Grandpa – he is a World War II veteran (his feet got frostbitten in France, and he later served in Germany), he’s a card shark, and overall just awesome.

As I’ve been thinking of, and celebrating my Grandpa I’m reminded of the devotional we had at the pool about legacy. As we go through life and after the Lord calls us home, there are a lot of things that people will think or remember about us. “She was a nice girl. He was a great dad. She worked really hard.” All good things, but in the eyes of eternity there is only one thing that really matters, if people know that you love Jesus. People can only see that if you love the Lord with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind. (Sound familiar from camp? Luke 10:27)

We love Him because He first loved us and when we truly embrace the Gospel and allow it to transform us we should always be exuding love – first to Christ, and then we are called to love others around us. That is what our legacy should be – whether we make it to 90 or are just 19 years old, our goal must be to show others that we love Jesus. How are you showing the world that you love Jesus?

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 3:20
