You Got This

This has been one of the best weekends. It has been low key and with no set agenda. A hanging with the wife and kiddos kind of weekend… The last several weeks, honestly, have probably been the busiest we have had as a married couple with kids, so to have nothing scheduled for the weekend was in many ways a relief....

Friday we took the kids to the Ashland Park Playground and to Gatti-Land for some pizza. We spent a majority of our Saturday around the pool and made Caleb his first s’more around a fire. All good stuff. During our time in the pool, however, I tried to encourage Caleb to jump off the side into my arms….something he did a hundred times last year. This year he was not so sure about that leap off the ledge. He was okay if I would do it with him or if I would hold his hands while he jumped. I spent a lengthy time trying to encourage him to jump into my arms. I kept saying how much I believed in him, how brave he was, and that “you got this.” I wish I could tell you he jumped, but he didn’t. He sat down and sort of slid in.

There are so many times we struggle in our faith. Our faith to believe. our faith to share Jesus with others, our faith that He’s going to come through in our most desperate moment, etc. We know that Jesus has gone before us. Maybe let’s approach Jesus with the attitude, “you got this, “ instead of letting our fears keep us standing on the side, scared.
