Dirt Bike

When I was young, my parents bought me a Yamaha dirt bike. I absolutely loved it so much that I would ride it everyday after school before and after I ate and did my homework. I couldn’t tell you how many hours I spent doing it but there was never a dull moment. The hardest part about riding a dirt bike is learning how. Luckily, I had my family and friends to help teach me how to ride this bicycle with a powerful engine. My learning process began one day with me and my parents in my back yard. As I sat upon the beast of a bike, I realized that I was ready to go. So I started it up, revved the engine several times and went full throttle, flying through my back yard. Little did I know, I didn’t even know how to brake! So I was driving around the yard in first gear trying to figure out all the bells and whistles. (There really isn’t very many, It just seemed like it) I was yelling and signaling for my parents to help me and then finally, I brought it to a stop without the brakes. After my heart attack stopped, and my dad explained to me what all the bells and whistles are for, I was instructed to practice my turning and control by driving in figure 8s around in the yard. I did this many times and finally gained the confidence to ride around the yard joyfully.

My point is, it takes practice to do anything and do it well. Sometimes you can’t just hop on the bike and go. It’s the exact same thing with your faith. It takes practice. Read your bible, pray everyday, and practice trusting God with your everyday encounters.
